Welcome to #BabyJesusRocksKapiti
Community Treasure hunt
It’s almost time to get out there and find the true meaning of Christmas.
Starting 3 December there will be loads of baby Jesus rocks to find and when you find one, firstly enjoy it, parade it and talk about it with your family… then bring your whole family along to our special BabyJesusRocks and Carols unwrapped service on 24th December at 10.30am (more details below).
Our hope is that as you find the rocks, you will have some great fun as a family and start talking about all things Christmas and how Jesus fits into it all.
Where do I find a rock and what do I do once I have one?
The rocks will be hidden with some hay in lots of places outdoors around the town… we don’t think it will be long before you stumble across one or two (we are hiding a fair few hundred). To make it easy for you, we will be posting clues regularly on Facebook as to where our brilliant hiders have placed the rocks. So once you find a rock, take a selfie with your rock and post it online so we and the Kapiti rockers can see your find and join in the conversation!
Once you have found a rock it’s yours to keep. It can be a great conversation starter in the family, and we have found that they become very precious to the finders. You’ll notice our website is on there, so we invite you to join us online and find out about all our Christmas services.
The history of baby Jesus rocks - This is an idea that appears to have started in England back in 2008 follow this link
And has since then been run as a facebook event in the village of Hartley since 2015.
Here in Kapiti this is a first I hope you will follow the link to our #BabyJesusRocksKapiti event and join in the hunt.
So a small army 'ROCKED' up over the two nights at the church this week, to start creating #BabyJesusRocksKapiti #BabyJesusRocks #behindthescenes #findthetruemeaningofchristmas #WATCHTHISSPACE
All the events we are holding over the Christmas season can be found here on our website, or our Kapiti Corps Salvation Army facebook page, but this event will finish on the day of our Carols unwrapped service, 24th December 2017, and we invite your children (and yourselves if you have found one without the kids) to bring along your Baby Jesus rock to the service; there will be a prize/treat for each child who found one. (we will also have a few hidden around the church that day for any child that didn’t… no one will be left out)
